Are you a cowboy fan? If you are, then I’m sure you’ll love the experience of dining the cowboy way, right? But I know you also want the taste to be authentic, or else the cowboy spirit in you will fade away.

If this is your dilemma, then worry no more. Yes, you don’t need to worry about dining the cowboy way with an authentic taste of the real wild wild west anymore as TEXAS ROADHOUSE GRILL is here to indulge your cravings for grilled dishes. It’s hard to describe how delectable their foods are without trying them, so we grabbed the chance while we can.

You know, I’m not the type of person who eats medium rare steak, I mean…why eat foods with “blood” on it when I can order for a well done one; but hey! It’s not that bad after all. After trying it with this one-of-a-kind saloon, I’ve decided that medium rare rib eye steak should be considered one of my favorites. But what really makes this rib eye stand out? It is served juicy with vegetable seasoned over it.

"The Great Ribeye"

I also tried their corn soup, which is supposed to be an appetizer, but then again, I was amazed of how it turned to be heavy in the stomach. I suggest that you really try this soup. After talking about the appetizer, I can’t wait to tell something about the dessert. So pardon me if I’ll jump my story from appetizer to dessert, ok?

Now, here we go…. the dessert part of the dining. It’s called Mighty Oreo Mud Pie, well, what really makes me drool about this aside from its name- which sounds really mouth-watering – is that, it has snickers in it, my favorite! Indulge me , please… mmmm

"Mighty Oreo Mud Pie"

Anyway, to make your stomach stop from rumbling because of these best-tasting story of mine, I have to end it now. But, I must tell you, the total experience with Texas Roadhouse Grill is something that tells me “I know you’ll come back, I’m sure”, and it’s really true…

So, next time, I also would like to try their ocean-fresh seafood, their chicken dishes, the Ol Texas Burger and Cheesesteak Sandwich, their pasta foods like the Geronimo’s Seafood Marinara and Billy the Kid’s Shrimp Pasta, and then there’s the Parmesan Crusted Fish Fillet and the Loaded Meatloaf…aaaahhhh…the choices are endless…I really can’t wait until my next dine at Texas Roadhouse Grill, which is, by the way, located at Bonifacio High Street and El Pueblo Real de Manila, Ortigas Center.

So, the search for the ultimate grilled dishes stops here. I guess I have to say, “See you there”!

A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot.

Here in Fish & Co., the food is good and fresh, as expected, and it’s so fresh, it’s served straight up in a pan! Fish & Co. took this cue from the simple practices of Mediterranean fishermen who caught seafood fresh and cooked them immediately in the pan, and made it their own. Favorites are Mussels, Calamari, and Fish and Chips, Seafood Platters and a specialty menu of their own home creation drinks and desserts.

This is not your usual fish and chips that tastes vaguely of breadcrumbs soaked in oil that could have fish in it somewhere. Using only the freshest fish and seafood, as well as natural ingredients like olive oil, herbs and various spices; Fish & Co. pans out great tasting meals in generous portions, all the better to feed you with. At Fish & Co., all seafood is prepared in a simple straightforward manner, letting the ingredients speak for themselves, while served up in their own fishy flair.

A FISHY TALE

It all began in 1998… the first Fish & Co. restaurant was opened at Plaza Singapura, Singapore. It was during the most challenging of times at the peak of the Asian and regional economic crisis. Recognizing a niche for a mid- level casual dining restaurant specializing in fish and seafood, the owners took the bold move in starting the business.

Visited by shoals of people, the first Fish & Co. was well received and well liked by all who visited. Encouraged by the overwhelming response, the second Fish & Co. was opened at Suntec City mall barely a year later.

There after, Fish & Co. has seen an aggressive and impressive growth and development trend. Within the first five years of operation, the restaurant has already made a strong presence in the Singapore market and anchored beyond the local shores into Malaysia, Middle East, Australia, Indonesia and is still foraying into many different parts of the world.

With the very same passion, that started the first ever Fish & Co., the owners have in their vision to bring Fish & Co. to every part of the world and to serve seafood in a pan all around the world.

Fish & Co. is a division of Fish & Co. Restaurants Pte Ltd. Under the umbrella of Fish & Co. Restaurants is also Oceana Seafood Pte Ltd whose main business is in procurement and distribution of fish and seafood.

Together, these business units work in synergistic integration and offers competitive advantage for the company.

Fish & Co. Restaurants is committed to operate the business effectively to ensure long term profitability, though strategic planning and strong people management philosophy.

Last Saturday, I was invited to try the crepe creations at Crepes & Cream in SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

Crepes & Cream is a modern and trendy cafe that serves a wide choice of cleverly crafted savory and sweet crepe creations that range from a good mix of Asian and Western taste. It allows people on the go to experience an ingenious way of eating crepe as a quick and easy meal.

The centerpiece of this Singaporean franchise is two crepe-making stations. This is where specialists spin the crepes in front of the customers.

There are over 30 types of crepes that are prepared fresh upon order.

Savory crepes that are tummy fillers by themselves include Pork Floss Cheesy Omelete, Smoked Salmon, and Kani Mango. The classic combination of Mushroom Ham is made special with mozzarella cheese, crunchy lettuce and mushroom sauce.

I tried the Beef Mushroom Melt which is made of ground beef, lettuce, tomato, red pepper and its creamy sauce. It is a thumbs up. The freshness of the vegetables and the yummy sauce of the beef will make you ask for more.

For vegetarians and weight watchers, there is the Veggie Crepe made up of sauteed mushroom, fresh lettuce, and juicy tomatoes.

As a meal capper, tempting chocolate, fresh fruits and luscious ice cream are wrapped in crepe for delectable delights like Carribean Cruise, Hazelnut Banana Chocolate and Cappuchoco.

Since I’m a strawberry lover, I tried the Crazy for Strawberries. It is a combination if delectable strawberry ice-cream, loads of fresh strawberry cubes and strawberry chocolate chips wrapped in a sweet crepe. To complete the overload, it is topped with almonds flakes, whipped cream and drizzled with strawberry sauce.

If you are into cheesecakes, popular cheesecake flavors like Strawberry, Mango, Blueberry and Oreo are also available. Cubes of real cake are folded in with vanilla ice cream and topped with almond flakes.

However, if you can’t decide, you can always try the “Create Your Own Recipe”. It lets you make your own sweet and savoury crepe creations. For sweet crepes, choose from banana, mango, peach, strawberry or blueberry, add your choice of premium ice cream flavor and drizzle with your favorite topping like almond flakes, brownie bits or mini marshmallow. For savoury crepes, pick ham, hotdog, tuna, pork floss, shredded chicken, or ground beef to go with your selected cheese, vegetables, and creamy sauces. There are 1,001 sweet and savoury crepe possibilities.

Crepes & Cream is located in the Podium, Ortigas Center, Crescent West park, Fort Bonifcaion, Mall of Asia, Pasay City; Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, Makati; SM Pampanga, Pampanga City; Robinsons Midtown, Ermita, Manila; and 4th Floor Bridgeway SM Megamall.

Thanks to Ms. Abbey Tomas for the invites. I will definitely go back and try the Kani Mago.

January 19, 2009, Bigby’s Café and Restaurant treats some bloggers with their scrumptious meals.

Bigby’s Café and Restaurant is Cagayan de Oro’s pride that started out in 1998. This big name in the food industry is finally in Metro Manila as it opened its 9th branch at SM Megamall Atrium last December 20, 2008.

Its beginning was in such an unusual time, when the people were just barely done coping with the Asian crisis that affected the country the previous year. Most people became inclined to eating out at food establishments offering quick meals and had shied away from treating themselves to a fine dining experience.

The owners saw the opportunity of offering something new for this market who were getting used to such meals, by taking them off the streets and into a nicer dining place but still paying affordable prices. And that is when this big idea began.

From then on, Bigby’s has attracted crowds of regulars and has become a favorite dining choice for its many loyal patrons. The relaxed ambiance of the place has become popular among diners and has successfully hosted many family gatherings and friendly get-togethers.

In 2000, the business was thriving steadily. Bigby’s was adding one branch after the other. The business expanded to 8 branches in Mindanao and the Visayas (2 in Cagayan de Oro City, 2 in Cebu City, 2 in Bacolod City and 2 in Davao City). And before the end of 2008, which was also their 10th year in the food industry, they opened their 9th branch and the very first Bigby’s in Luzon.

Bigby’s is on a roll to make a big mark in the food and dining scene business. If the new branch is also a success – which no doubt it will be – judging from prior forays, it will not be long before it expands to other key cities in Luzon as well.

Bigby’s is not simply a place to sit and dine, but also a destination to experience.
The restaurant’s theme is aptly: travel.

The Manila branch is filled with bits and pieces from different places in the world. Different kinds of visual treats include framed collection of key chains, swords, badges, spoons and wooden crafts displayed on the walls. Its cozy interior is made up of wooden panels and clear glasses, with writings that match the chairs and tables. The members of the crew are even dressed like explorers eager to guide diners to the ultimate Bigby’s food trip.

The menu is an adventure all on its own. Delectable dishes are inspired from here and abroad. A taste of Bigby’s is a taste of the world. And true to its name, Bigby’s serves food in big sizes and allows you to leave the place full and satisfied big time. The portions are so huge that two or more can even share a dish or a lone diner can still have some left to bring home.

Bigby’s wants to serve consistent best quality with every serving and continually leave a big and happy impression on each and every diner. With its new branch at The Atrium in Megamall, let the Bigby’s experience take you on a food trip in comfort through its cozy interiors, with shared mementos from all over the world and ultimate pampering through excellent food.
